Ongoing Project- Wastewater Recycling Plant

The wastewater recycling plant, which is first of its kind in Mongolia, will make water reuse practice possible and reduce the demand for freshwater among Ulaanbaatar’s largest industrial facilities through reuse of the city’s wastewater

The wastewater recycling plant, which is first of its kind in Mongolia, will make water reuse practice possible and reduce the demand for freshwater among Ulaanbaatar’s largest industrial facilities through reuse of the city’s wastewater.

CHPs in Ulaanbaatar use 21 million cubic meters of freshwater (50 000 cubic meter/day which is equal to 23.8 percent of total water use of the city) from groundwater resources a year (mainly for cooling) and 15 million cubic meters or 70 percent of which is used for cooling, cleaning, and ash removing.
Recycled wastewater will reduce the need for freshwater by up to 18.3 million cubic meter/ year (50 000 cubic meter/day), thereby making the freshwater available for household and industrial consumption. This first wastewater recycling plant of Mongolia will help to pave the path for efficient and responsible management of the scarce water resources of Ulaanbaatar.

The Wastewater Recycling Plant, being implemented by MCS Property LLC, will not only promote long-term sustainability in the water sector but also strive to achieve gender equity and social inclusion, supporting lasting economic growth and poverty reduction in the project-affected areas through WRP activities.

Additionally, we are committed to minimizing the environmental impact of construction activities, ensuring that our work contributes positively to both the community and the environment.
